6/6/11 no panic in annick

On Monday we shopped around in Scotland then took a train to Alnmouth so we could tour the Alnwick...pronounced annick...castle aka the castle they use in some of Harry Potter! It was pretty dang cool. People still live in it so no pics allowed inside, but they had the most gorgeous extravagant carved wood ceilings. Also they let some students from University of Minnesota live there which i thought was pretty random. We also toured the gardens. Luckily at the train station we found a nice taxi driver to take us to the castle, keep some of our baggage, then pick us up at a bakery he suggested (Greggs, which is yummy and great prices!) We were sorta hesitant to leave our stuff in the taxi cab but we didnt pay him till the end and got his license plate number in case he tryed to swipe our stuff. I dont know what he would want with a bunch of girls clothes and makeup, you never know tho haha.

Lil tribute to the USU newspaper the scotsman, which i think was the main newspaper in Edinburgh.

The Harry Potter castle!! soo pretty

In the dungeon haha they had this dummy down there with bloody bones and had a speaker making creepy groaning sounds! cheesy but still freaky

I wasnt even going to go to the castle but it was so worth while, oh and we got student discounts which always makes me happy. Some clothing stores here even offer students discounts...its great.

The views all around the castle were purely breathtaking

She's a beaut aint she?! haha Although I feel bad for the people who love there cuz its a bit drafty inside.

The fabulous entrance to the Alnwick Castle gardens.

So everyone was all excited bout the roses in this garden and I on the other love these freaky flowers most :) They practically grow hair! and remind me of something that would be in a Dr. Suess book

Poppies make me so happy :) especially orange ones! hopefully those are poppies or I might have just made a fool of myself haha

There were lots of doves and this one was cleaning itself so i picked up some seeds and threw them in there to get the bird to look for a photo and it actually worked!

Our taxi driver taught us how different the pronounciation and spelling of a word in that area could be. Near by is a town of Ulgem(i think) and they say it like offhim and get mad when people get it wrong...luckily we didnt go there.

oh p.s. The day before this i tired haggus pie, tasted like egg and sausage without seasoning

p.p.s. they have giant toblerone bars at my grocery store for only 2 pounds and im beyond thrilled about it :D
